Online Teaching Tools
Apply the WISE CAP Method
The online modules at ReligionAndPublicLife.com are designed for adult learners to achieve measurable objectives by applying the WISE CAP method, a pedagogy developed by Dr. Nathan C. Walker. Students begin by
▸ Watching compelling videos;
▸ Interacting with retention games;
▸ Studying scholarly sources; and
▸ Engaging their fellow students and instructors.
Those enrolled in the verified courses earn their CAP and are eligible to receive academic credit from our partner schools by
▸ Composing the assigned essays;
▸ Amending their written work based on faculty feedback; and verbally
▸ Presenting their insights to classmates and instructors.
The WISE CAP method uses the gamification of online learning to enhance the intellectual and professional development of adults of all ages.
Strategies to Consider
Option 1. Our Resources, Your Teaching: Unexpectedly teaching online? Assign the three W.I.S. sections of micro courses (Watch, Interact, Study). Complete the WISE acronym by hosting a video conference to Engage your students with the proposed discussion questions.
Option 2. Allow Us Serve You and Your Student. Treat the student’s work like you would an independent study. Assign the seven WISE CAP exercises listed in each micro course. Ask the student to submit their written work and a a certified “CAP” from ReligionAndPublicLife.com as evidence of their completion. Award them a pass/fail grade.
